Counselling and Psychotherapy for individuals, couples and groups.
I run a private practice in Fernwood, Victoria, BC, dedicated to supporting people to navigate life challenges and experiences.
I truly believe people can grow, reach their full potential, connect and make purposeful positive changes in their lives and relationships. I have been working with Individuals, Couples and running ongoing Therapy Groups for 18 years.
My approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have had extensive training in person centred Integrative Psychotherapy.
Registered Counsellor & Integrative Therapist
As an Integrative Therapist I use a variety of approaches and styles to address the broad spectrum of issues people seek help with. We build ways of protecting the heart through what has happened to us. Although those ways created protection they also can limit us in being open, creative, playful and trusting. Therapy may involve exploring walled off emotions, self limiting beliefs and self defeating behaviours. It also may involve taking those walls down and rebuilding a deep connection to ourselves and others we care about. Doing therapy is a journey of self discovery while attending to the immediate needs in life. See Approach Page for more information. Also see Videos page.
Certified Transactional Analyst
TA is a humanistic therapy that combines a highly assessable theory on the development of people and systems with a highly practical approach, centred on possibilities of growth and development. See Approach Page for more. Also see Videos page.
Developmental Couples Counsellor
Developmental Couples Therapists work from the premise that every couple goes through stages of growth and development beginning with enmeshment sometimes refereed to as the Symbiotic or Honeymoon. This is important because this stages solidifies a bond but it is also where each partner hides true and uncomfortable aspects of themselves.
Next is the Differentiation Stage. This is when most couples come to get help. Either these couples get stuck in avoiding conflict or they get stuck in hostile conflict cycles. This is normal and most couples need help with changing these patterns and learning to listen and go beneath to vulnerability where true connection and intimacy is. I will show you how to communicate and connect in the sessions using tools and coaching you to build a long lasting relationship. See more on Couples Counselling Page
